About the Ranch

The Schell Ranch is located 30 miles north of San Francisco in West Marin. Its 206 acres of rolling hills over-look the Pacific to the West and Mt. Tamalpais to the East. The property is bustling with livestock around a rustic five bedroom ranch-house house, with private entrance guest-rooms, a separate apartment and a freestanding office; making it a perfect location and staging area for photoshoots and films. This remarkable property is surrounded by many hundreds of acres of undeveloped pasture and Golden Gate National Recreation Area lands. Beautiful views surround the ranch in every direction. From wildlife and tide-pools, to picturesque beaches and breathtaking sunsets, there is no shortage of beautiful and unique scenery.

Brief History of the Ranch

The Schell family were one of the first to raise free-range hormone free cattle beginning in the 1970's. It was then under the name Niman-Schell and burgeoned from a two man operation into the major "green" meat producer it is today. The ranch is Ole Schell's childhood home and his filmmaking headquarters.
